Join us at The Turnip Truck Instagram Live (@theturniptruck) for a virtual Wine and Cheese tasting! We will be featuring Beehive Cheeses and three of our finest wines. Beehive Cheese just launched their newest product – the Pour Me a Slice – an aged cheddar infused with Basil Hayden Bourbon. It is not to be missed!

Hosting the event will be Patrick Ford from Beehive Cheese and Traci Hilton of Best Brands Wines. Both are educators in their fields. Bring your questions! Bring your friends! It will be a fun way to sample something new and learn a bit about two delicious gastronomical pairings.

How a Virtual Tasting works:

Before the event visit either our West store (5001 Charlotte Ave) or East store (701 Woodland St.) to purchase the three cheeses and three wines – and receive your FREE Turnip Truck Thermal Bag and $10 Gift Card. Then go home, maybe gather a couple of your besties on your patio, and at 6:30pm Thursday, click on to our Instagram Live (@theturniptruck). Sit back and enjoy some delightful cheese and wine while our wine expert and cheese producer talk about the processes and specialty craft that go into making them unique.

Our wine expert, Traci Hilton, will talk about the hand-selected wines and how to pair them with cheese and other foods. Pat Ford of Beehive Cheese will take you through the process of what goes into making their award-winning cheeses. You’ll learn how to pair wine and cheeses like a sommelier and fromager! You’ll be able to engage with them – so bring your questions!

Our Hosts:

Pat Ford:

From the mountains of Northern Utah, with his family by his side, Pat Ford founded Beehive Cheese – a creamery that broke with tradition and created their own rules about what artisan cheese could be.  Their pioneering spirit and culinary creativity are how they came up with “Pour Me A Slice” – Basil Hayden Bourbon infused cheddar (one of our favorites!) and “Barely Buzzed” – a cheese rubbed with lavender and espresso which earned them awards in the cheese community. Click here to watch a video on the family business.

For this Thursday’s Virtual Wine & Cheese Tasting, Pat will be featuring these Beehive Cheeses.

Keep it Cheesy

June 4th is National Cheese day, and it’s one of our favorite days to celebrate. We love cheese. This year, we are very excited to offer our rotating selection of the best artisan, local, or imported cheeses.

While we are pretty stoked on all of the cheese we sell in our store, some of our absolute favorites come from the Point Reyes Creamery. Point Reyes is a family farm in the San Francisco Bay Area, and their whole cheese-making process from cows to aging happens right on their farm. We’re proud to carry several of their crowd-pleasing varieties, because these cheeses are absolutely delicious, and we think you’ll like them too!

While we can only stock according to the farm’s availability, we like to have at least a couple kinds of Point Reyes’ award-winning cheeses in our cheese case. Right now, we have Point Reyes bleu cheese, Bay Blue, and their versatile table cheese, Toma.

For an elegant, summer dinner without having to turn your stove on, make a mini cheese plate, all supplies available at your local Turnip Truck!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Small-medium hunk of Point Reyes Bay Blue
Medium-large hunk of Point Reyes Toma
Thinly cut Olli Salami
Halved red grapes
Turnip Truck house-made Baguette, sliced on the bias
Dalmatia Fig Spread

Arrange on a cheese board or serving plate and dig in! We think cheese plates are fun because there are no rules and endless combinations, so get creative. Don’t forget the cheese knife and a little spoon for the fig spread.

To complete the meal, pair your Point Reyes Toma with Blue Quail Organic Pinot Noir and the Bay Blue with Predator Old Vine Zinfandel.

Come in to the Turnip Truck on National Cheese Day (June 4) to celebrate the greatness that is cheese, sample our Point Reyes Creamery offerings, scope out our other cheesy specials, and pick up cheese plate necessities!
